Workout of the Day:
135 Squats
54 Pushups
20x jab each hand
20x cross ea
20x hook ea
20x elbow ea
20x jab/cross ea
20x front kick, 20x sidekick, 20 x crescent kick, 20 x RH kick, 20x back kick each
10x3sets burpees

The goal of our workouts is to strengthen the body and practice our martial arts. However, as I work through my various forms I am looking for fighting application. I don't just want to know a form by memory because that makes forms nothing more than a dance routine. I want to find the reason for the form, the reason for the movement. When I am looking for that reason. I want to remember what I am doing: Literally, What is hidden in the form, the spirit of the movement and how I might use it in a fight. When working forms it is important to figure out the why's. As I have been unpacking forms lately, I have begun to find new excitement in forms.

There are many who say forms and movement in forms are useless for modern-day fighting or combat. I bought into this line of reasoning for several years and abandoned the forms I learned before. This is probably true for the person who spends little to no time investigating the purpose or reason for the forms they learned. I find it less important to be critical of the people who think this way and more important to be critical of the forms and movement I have learned.
